Maitland is a beautiful suburban city located just 9 miles north of Downtown Orlando. A city rich in history, Maitland is a residential community with a thriving, diverse economy. Known for its luxury homes and great schools, Maitland is a fantastic place to raise a family.

The Maitland Parks and Recreation Department manages over 15 parks. Some of Maitland’s notable parks include:

Maitland Community Park is one of Maitland’s most popular and beautiful parks that also includes a recreation building and multi-purpose room, tennis courts, and indoor racquetball courts. Take a jog on the park’s jogging trail or let your children play on one of the two children’s play areas. There are also two lighted basketball courts and several shaded pavilions available for reservation.

Jim Houser Azalea Garden's 5-acre park includes a beautiful wedding gazebo, enough shade for an afternoon picnic, jogging trails, a children’s playground, and the beautiful Historic Waterhouse Residence Museum.

Audubon Center for Birds of Prey is one of Central Florida’s best-kept secrets that focuses on the rescue, medical treatment, rehabilitation, and release of the wild birds on Lake Sybelia and offers educational opportunities for people of all ages.


Maitland, Florida is known for its luxury homes built around its lakes. Lake Maitland, Lake Minnehaha, and Lake Sybelia are among the various lakes in the City of Maitland. The lakes cover 1027 acres, or one-third, or the total area of the city. Lake Lily is the home of the Maitland Art Festival.

Local Attractions and Activities

The Maitland Rotary Art Festival, an annual nighttime fine arts festival with original art and continuous entertainment.

The Maitland Farmer’s Market is held every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and also includes entertainment.

The Enzian Theater, home to the Florida Film Festival, is Central Florida’s only full-time independent movie theater.

Art and History Museums of Maitland include two campuses that contain a 1937 artists’ colony with Aztec and Mayan architectural influences, a Victorian house museum, a working antique tool museum, an interactive telephone museum, and a local history museum. There is something for everyone and you can learn something new each visit.
